Is It Unhealthy To Be A Little Overweight?

Is it unhealthy to be a little bit overweight or underweight? How heavy or skinny do you have to be before it starts being a real problem? How can you lose those troublesome extra pounds? In this article, I attempt to explain everything I know about the subject of being a little bit overweight, and what to do about it.

The question is: is it unhealthy to be a little overweight? Many people have trouble shedding those few extra kilos that keep them from their ideal weight, and it's not so much a matter of the weight, but the lifestyle that goes with it.

If you are less than five kilos above or below your ideal weight, there probably isn't a real problem, but the real problem to your health in that range is how healthy you are generally.

If you are eating a lot of junk food, not exercising, and smoking and drinking alcohol, you will be less healthy than someone who was ten kilograms heavier than you, but who took care of themselves in those ways.

Health is not determined by weight, although being obese can be a cause of diabetes, heart problems, clogged arteries, and many other serious health problems.

The goal is to live in a healthy way, which means getting thirty minutes of exercise a day, (such as walking), eating foods based on the food pyramid, (mostly fruit and vegetables), and not taking intoxicants of any kind.

Maybe you can't stick to that health regime exactly, but you can at least try to take it into account when planning your day, as it could help you live a longer, healthier life.

Is It Unhealthy To Be Overweight?

Obesity is right up there as one of the main causes of death in countries like America, but it is nowhere near as high a cause of death as alcohol and tobacco.

If you are twenty kilos overweight, (or fifty pounds), you have to think very seriously about seeking help to fix the problem, as it may only get worse if you don't take action.

Often it comes down to taking the time to walk every day, whether you need to or not, and that can be the hardest thing to do. It's a good idea to have a friend who can exercise with you, or you can join a weight loss group, where people give each other support and encouragement to lose weight.

It's not hard to find some healthy recipes, for example, here's a link to some healthy salad recipes, you just throw a few things in a bowl, and it's not expensive. Fresh food is the answer, stay away from the carbs and fried meat.

I even wrote an article called recipes for the morbidly obese, if you really want to lose some weight fast. I can't guarantee that they work, as I'm not trying all that hard to lose weight myself.

I'm about twenty kilos overweight, and I'm just trying to live as healthy as I can, while not really trying that hard. I like eating salad. Is it unhealthy to be a little overweight? Yes, but there are worse things in this world in terms of your health, so just do what you can.
